From March 16 to May 28, 2022, the exhibition “Remember – ReAct. Commemoration of the Holocaust and Combating Anti-Semitism in Sweden”, offered by the Swedish Institute, the Swedish Embassy in Latvia and the museum “Jews in Latvia”, is on display at the Riga Jewish Community, Skolas str.6, Riga.
The exhibition is dedicated to the understanding of the Holocaust in Sweden, its development and its connection with human rights issues. The exhibition shows how anti-Semitism, racism and xenophobia manifest themselves today, how they affect different groups in society, disrupting normal functioning. The Malmö International Forum on Holocaust Remembrance and Combating Antisemitism, held on October 13, 2021, attended by around 50 leaders of European states, was largely devoted to these issues. The exhibition is the result of this forum.
The exhibition shows how the tragedy of the Holocaust, efforts to prevent it and help to survivors have created a modern understanding of human rights, the need to protect them both nationally and internationally.
All interested, especially students of Secondary Schools and University are invited to visit the exhibition.
The exhibition was curated by the Swedish Institute (Svenska Institutet) and prepared in Latvian by the museum “Jews in Latvia” with the support of the Swedish Embassy in Latvia.
